Mary Stewart
October 2010 Marked the completion of Mary Stewart’s “Song a Day” a blog which brought the listener into the life and home of the Nova Scotian Songstresses during 2009-2010 while she wrote 365 songs. Mary started the project to allow listeners the ability to observe the creative progress, how the song starts as a tiny idea and how it evolves.
Having grown up around a staggering record collection Mary developed an appreciation for music at an early age. By the time she was sixteen, Mary was in the studio with producer/songwriter George Canyon recording her first EP. Since this time she has shared the stage with such performers as Blue Rodeo, By Divine Right, Cindy Church, Murray McLaughlin, Bruce Guthro, Valdy, Jill Barber, In-flight Safety, and Wintersleep.
In May 2009 Mary independently released her full length record “Mary Stewart” which was nominated for 2009 Best Female Artist Recording with Molson Nova Scotia Music week, and her first music video for “Sweeter Than”.
Presently Mary is in the studio working on her second full length record featuring songs from the Song A Day project with producers Jason Ball (Hopeful Monster) and Luther Mallory (Crush Luther, Daycare Records)
